The National Folk Museum of Korea will host a special exhibition titled "Today, too, is a Commemoration: The Reason We Cherish Commemorative Items" from the 27th of this month until September 14th in the museum's Special Exhibition Hall, located in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

This exhibition focuses on commemorative culture rooted in the daily lives of modern people and the commemorative items that symbolize it, with an emphasis on reflecting on the value of memories and life.

The National Museum explains the exhibition’s intent, stating, "Today, there are more than 150 official commemorative days, and when considering personal commemorative days, it feels as though every day is a commemoration. However, the question of 'What and why do we commemorate?' has become unclear."

The exhibition sheds light on three aspects of why we cherish commemorative items, including personal life cycles and commemoration, community memories, and tourism souvenirs. It also features many newly unveiled museum holdings, such as the "Constitution Proclamation Commemorative Photo," which captures a historical scene announcing the promulgation of the constitution.
