According to Korea Consumer Agency’s price info portal "Chakgaggak" on the 14th, the average price of one roll of gimbap in Seoul last month was ₩3,623, up ₩23 (0.6%) from the previous month.

During the same period, 200g of samgyeopsal increased from ₩20,276 to ₩20,447 (up ₩171 or 0.8%), and samgyetang rose from ₩17,346 to ₩17,500 (up ₩154 or 0.9%).
Other foods also saw increases: bibimbap (₩11,423) rose ₩38 (0.3%), and kalguksu (₩9,615) rose ₩153 (1.6%). In total, 5 out of 8 popular dishes saw price increases in just a month.
Compared to April last year, the jumps are more significant.
By menu, gimbap saw the highest year-on-year increase at 7.8%, followed by bibimbap (6.1%), kalguksu and jjajangmyeon (5.0%), kimchi stew set (4.7%), naengmyeon and samgyetang (3.6%), and samgyeopsal (2.3%). Prices of everyday meals for the working class have gone up noticeably.
In particular, gimbap — a popular light lunch for office workers — continues to rise in price due to increases in core ingredients like seaweed, labor costs, store rents, and utility fees.
