[🇬🇧] ‘Korean Modern and Contemporary Art II’ Exhibition Showcases 100 Years of Korean Art

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon, will open the second part of its permanent collection exhibition, ‘Korean Modern and Contemporary Art II,’ on the 26th.


Korean Modern and Contemporary Art II

This exhibition brings together over 110 key works of Korean art from the 1950s to the 1990s, continuing from the first part that covers the Korean Empire and the Korean War, highlighting 100 years of Korean modern and contemporary art.It also includes 58 works from the ‘Lee Kun-hee Collection,’ a gift from the late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee.


The second part focuses on the periods of industrialization and democratization, showcasing the development of Korean contemporary art, with over 70 artists, including Ryu Kyung-chae, Moon Woo-sik, Lee Seung-taek, Lee Ufan, and Park Iso. Particularly, the ‘Modernist Women Artists’ section introduces abstract works by female artists such as Lee Seon-ja and Bang Hye-ja.


Additionally, the ‘Artist’s Room’ section provides an in-depth look at the works of Kim Whanki and Yun Hyong-keun. Some of the displayed works will be part of an upcoming international touring exhibition, available to view for a limited time only.
