Since 2018, Starbucks has introduced paper straws across all its stores to reduce environmental pollution. However, consumers have consistently raised complaints such as, “The paper straw becomes soggy when left in the drink for too long” and “It tastes like paper.”

In response, Starbucks explained that the newly introduced plastic straws are made from plant-based materials derived from sugarcane and that a recycling bin will be set up to collect used plastic straws for recycling.
