Due to heavy rain, national heritage sites across South Korea are being damaged.

National heritage sites across the country have been damaged by heavy rainfall.According to the Korea Cultural Heritage Administration on the 20th, the confirmed damage from the torrential rain that began on the 16th has reached 8 cases, which is an increase of 3 cases compared to two days ago.
The damage includes 3 historical sites, 2 treasures, and 1 national treasure and scenic spot each. The main areas affected include Chungnam (4 cases), Jeonnam (2 cases), and Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam (1 case each).
In particular, in Sancheong, Gyeongnam, the treasure 'Yulgoksa Daeungjeon' was damaged by a landslide. Part of its walls and one surrounding building were destroyed, and dirt piled up inside the structure.
Additionally, national heritage sites in Boseong and Suncheon in Jeonnam were also damaged, and the Bangudae Petroglyphs in Ulju suffered flooding due to rising water levels.
The Cultural Heritage Administration is now working on restoration efforts in the affected areas and preventing further damage.
