On the 19th, By4M Studio, the distributor of the movie The Match, released its official trailer. However, Yoo Ah-in, who stars alongside Lee Byung-hun, was completely absent from the footage.
Although there is a brief moment where a figure resembling Yoo Ah-in’s back appears, it lasts for less than a second, making it impossible to confirm whether it is actually him.

The reason for this is that Yoo Ah-in has been on trial for habitual use of drugs, including propofol and marijuana. On the 18th, he was sentenced to a suspended prison term in his appeal trial.
Additionally, it has been reported that Yoo Ah-in will not appear in any upcoming production briefings, preview screenings, interviews, or promotional materials such as posters.

The Match is a film depicting the story of Cho Hun-hyeon and Lee Chang-ho, two legendary Go players representing South Korea. The movie follows Cho Hun-hyeon’s journey as he strives to reclaim his place at the top after losing to his disciple, Lee Chang-ho.
Lee Byung-hun plays Cho Hun-hyeon, while Yoo Ah-in portrays Lee Chang-ho.
Initially, The Match was scheduled to be released on an online streaming platform (OTT) in 2023. However, due to the drug allegations against Yoo Ah-in in February of that year, the release date remained undecided. Eventually, the decision was made to shift from an OTT release to a theatrical release, allowing the movie to be screened directly for audiences.
