Bong Joon-ho's Hollywood film 'Mickey 17' has surpassed 1 million viewers just 4 days after its release.

According to the Korean Film Council’s Integrated Ticketing System, 'Mickey 17' recorded a cumulative audience of 1,117,586 as of 6:55 AM on the 3rd, surpassing 1 million viewers in just 4 days. After its release on the 28th of last month, the film maintained the number one spot at the box office throughout the Samiljeol holiday, proving its explosive popularity.

This record for 'Mickey 17' is on par with 2024’s highest-grossing foreign film, 'Inside Out 2', as well as 'Top Gun: Maverick', which attracted over 8 million viewers and achieved long-term success, and 'Smuggling', which led the summer box office in 2023. Furthermore, it surpassed 1 million viewers faster than Christopher Nolan’s 'Oppenheimer', showcasing the intense anticipation from the audience for Bong Joon-ho’s work.

'Mickey 17' follows a member of a space exploration team who is assigned to perform experiments and missions to survive in the harsh conditions of space, repeatedly experiencing death and resurrection, and gradually beginning to question his own existence.
