The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has announced the selection of the "2024 Best Cultural Tourism Festivals."
The festivals chosen as the best this time are the Imsil N Cheese Festival, Goryeong Daegaya Festival, and the Busan International Rock Festival.
This evaluation covered a total of 65 festivals, including 25 cultural tourism festivals, 20 honorary cultural tourism festivals, and 20 preliminary festivals. It assessed various aspects such as festival awareness, the increase in visitor numbers, and the rise in overall consumption.
In particular, the Imsil N Cheese Festival, themed around Imsil N Cheese, Korea's first cheese and the capital of Korean cheese, was highly praised for its innovative content and well-managed events, contributing significantly to the revitalization of domestic tourism.
The Imsil N Cheese Festival, selected as the best cultural tourism festival, celebrated its 10th anniversary and attracted over 580,000 visitors nationwide from October 3 to 6, 2024.
Additionally, it recorded sales of 2.45 billion won, setting a new record and reaffirming its reputation as a top-tier festival.
Jeonbuk's Imsil County, preparing for the Year of Imsil in 2025, plans to extend the festival duration from the existing four days to five days this year, holding the event from October 8 to 12 at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park, Imsil Cheese Village, and throughout Imsil-eup.
