BLACKPINK’s Rosé has officially withdrawn from the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA).

On the 20th, KOMCA announced that Rosé had applied for trust termination on October 31 last year, and after a three-month grace period, her contract officially ended on January 31.
The first artist to terminate their trust relationship with KOMCA was Seo Taiji. In 2003, on April 4, he became the first Korean singer to leave KOMCA. Rosé is now the second artist to do so and the first female singer to part ways with the organization.
The primary reason behind Rosé’s departure is reported to be double commission fees. In September last year, she signed an exclusive contract with Atlantic Records, a label under Warner Music Group, marking the beginning of her full-scale global career. Since her activities are now primarily overseas, managing copyright separately in both Korea and the U.S. became unnecessary. Moving forward, all of Rosé’s copyrights will be handled by a U.S.-based publisher.
