The Busan International Film Festivalās opening film No other choiceĀ (directed by Park Chan-wook) drew 330,000 viewers on its first day of general release, immediately claiming the No. 1 spot at the box office.

According to the Korean Film Councilās integrated database, the film, released on September 24, recorded 331,518 viewers on its opening day ā the highest-ever opening score for a Park Chan-wook film. It surpassed his previous hit Decision to LeaveĀ (114,589), as well as his biggest box-office successes The HandmaidenĀ (290,024) and Lady VengeanceĀ (279,413).
Notably, No other choiceĀ also outperformed the opening scores of the mega-hits ExhumaĀ (330,118) and Seoul SpringĀ (203,813), suggesting a strong box-office run in the coming weeks.
The film No other choiceĀ tells the story of Mansu (played by Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who once felt he had āachieved it allā in life. Suddenly laid off, he is forced to fight his own personal battle ā to protect his wife and two children, to hold on to the home he worked so hard to secure, and to find a way back into employment.
